Lee Smith, a great reliever who had a good stint with the Cardinals, is going in the Hall of Fame. Well deserved.

One of my distinct memories is of Jack Buck announcing Smith being brought into the game on KMOX.

Buck had a husky voice by that time and he growled out something like this late in a game where the Cardinals held a close lead.

“Ball four. Cardinals are going to make a pitching change.

Here comes Big’un”

And we all knew Lee was coming in for another almost sure save.
