On a recent trip we noticed on the menu (we had to ask for a printed menu of course) that a 20 percent service charge was automatically added to the bill. That’s fine.

At the end of the meal our server said “the 20 percent service charge is shared among all workers. Anything above that is for me.”

Awkward. Pushy.

Not a good approach.
