96 straight wins to be average

I am neutral on the Colorado Rockies. They aren’t my time and I don’t follow them but I don’t wish them any ill will.
I noticed in the Denver Post the general manager in trying to explain how bad the team is again spoke highly of manager Bud Black.
He seems like such a nice guy. Competent too. Firing him would do very little to change their record.
But I still don’t know of any other team that hangs on to managers year after year when the team is bad.
They say a really good manager may not mean more than 5 games difference a year. But it seems to changing the top person at least says you care and will try something.
The Rockies would probably extend his contract if they could get anywhere near .500. And they will no doubt keep him no matter what.
But I checked the stats. If Black went 96-0, if the Rockies won 96 games in a row, he would just reach a .500 percentage as manager.
Rocky manager is one of the most secure jobs in baseball.
