What we lose with the mall

Malls are pretty much toast these days. Death by Amazon.
Fort Collins is no different. Plans have been made to convert the mall indoor area into the billionth apartment complex for the most part.
It is next to a cinema I frequent. I like to walk into the mall to walk. Not just on bad weather days but to stroll.
It is mostly empty.
Except for people. Walking like me. Groups using it to visit. Special needs outings. A winter market. It is a community center really.
When the wrecking ball comes, where will people go?
Obviously there is no bringing back indoor malls.
But it isn’t just nostalgia that makes me sad about all this.
It is utility and common ground.
