I believe in global warming. Climate change. I really do and I believe in drawing attention to it so this planet has a future.

But this journalism decision to only explain weather in connection with climate change. And then hammer us over the head with it, strikes me as agenda overkill.

The current heat dome in the USA has media like the New York Times and USA Today in an overdrive fury. Scorching and Heat Dome are used so much I don’t think we will ever see a good old fashioned heat wave again.

The old style journalist in me puts on the brakes.

Where I live we had a mild and wet winter and spring and only as I write this is it hitting the first 90’s. But it is summer. And I’m not sure every weather event is connected to climate change.

By the way, Colorado used to consider 90’s rare as was air conditioning. Now both are commonplace. It has changed. It is hotter.

But I would love some non agenda journalists to share some balance in how much is out of whack and how much is not much different than days of old.

The USA Today would have you think the End of Days are upon us.

I have no doubt this summer will set new records in the USA and around the world. And it needs full attention.

But it is ok to offer any balance that exists to not just scare the hell out of us.
