Those serving in Congress may have many strengths, but asking questions at hearings is not one of them.

On display painfully again this week are people who could really benefit from Journalism 101.

Approach the nominee with clear, short, open minded questions. Actually have a curiosity, no tricks.

Instead we get these long winded loaded questions either filled with venom or puff, depending on which party is doing the asking. And we learn nothing.

The irony of all this is, and a life in journalism backs this up, when you do an interview to draw out what the person being interviewed really thinks, you can get more than if you come in ready to make love or war.

I won’t be holding my breath.
