Bob Kuban died last week.

Except for those of us still alive and kicking with St. Louis roots, this won’t mean a thing.

But long ago Bob Kuban and the In Men (that was not a good name) had a national hit song. The Cheater.

In St. Louis we were proud. hell, he even played at CYC dances in the Sacred Heart gym in my home town. (Catholic run, open to all of us, even heathens)

Kuban was the drummer. The Cheater is a catchy song and he gets some good drum licks in. The leader singer Walter Scott had a deep voice.

Even now, as an inside bonding memory, us survivors have been known to break into “Haven’t you heard about the guy, known as the cheater” using our deepest Walter Scott voice. It is good for a laugh while those who weren’t around look puzzled.

Play The Cheater. it is short and catchy.
