A most welcome “Presence”

I was leery.
Audiences didn’t seem to like this movie very much compared to the critics. That is usually a sign
that we are less engaged than those who have nothing to do but critique movies.
I was pleasantly surprised.
Do not go to this movie if you want a horror movie with scares and screams.
It is really a story about a troubled family, and “the presence” is there to offer a nudge here and there.
The camera is used to show things from the point of view of the presence. At first I was afraid of a whipsawing camera to make me ill. But in no time I didn’t even think about it. The camera was steady of this drama that unfolds.
I think this movie is going to be one of the best movies I see this year.
