Bonnie Raitt is fantastic. We’ve seen her many times and she is always good. Watching her on the SNL special sing “I can’t make you love me” reminded me of her piano solo of it at Red Rocks. You could have heard a pin drop. Gorgeous.

One of my favorite memories comes not from a song but a quip by Bonnie.

Before she reached the popularity where she was the headliner she was part of three acts at Sandstone, an outdoor theater in Kansas City.

I believe the opening act was Steve Earle and Chris Isaak may have been the headliner (strange I know). Two male acts for sure.

Anyway Bonnie came as the middle act and before the first song she stepped up to the microphone and said “I’m the meat inside your sandwich.”

Perfect.
