Basketball would be so much better if the last minute didn’t take 10 minutes.

The constant timeouts are a real drag and don’t really add to the suspense, while bringing the game to a screeching halt.

And I love when it is a 5 or 10 point game and they still use every timeout.

How about no timeouts in the last 60 seconds? that would be exciting.

And if that is too radical, how about time outs in the last minute are only to advance the ball to midcourt with no huddle.

Now the lengthy delays to watch a replay to see who tipped a ball are bad enough. But that is harder to fix.

I always remember the ornery Mizzou basketball coach Norm Stewart was asked why he didn’t like to call timeouts at the end of the game. He said “That’s why we practice.”
