Texas Monthly magazine has a great column called “The Texanist”, about all things Texas and written with a lot of humor.

This month the topic was using the phrase” I got to see a man about a horse” when you have to go the bathroom. The Texanist determined it actually started in England but noted that with the most horses anywhere, Texans surely do embrace it.

It reminded me of growing up in Missouri and when you had to urinate so bad you felt like you could explode you would say “I could piss up a rope.”

Since Texas surely has the most rope to go with the most horses, I emailed The Texanist that it must be a familiar phrase.
