I grew up with Steak and Shake. Always liked those thin burgers and I still have a guilty pleasure on the chile.

It always amazed me how they never capitalized on their popularity with chain locations throughout America. I remember they opened one finally in Colorado where we live but a huge battle with the franchisee shut that place down quickly.

Steak and Shake must have some strange management, so it never spanned the country well.

Meanwhile Freddy’s makes solid food very Steak and Shake like. They not only cloned them but have one upped them in some areas and their chain seems to be doing quite well.

I will always think of this as a missed opportunity for Steak and Shake but kudos to Freddy’s and I’ll ake a single with fries and wish I could order a vanilla shake with it without feeling guilty.
