Politics at the concert

I’ve noticed another flurry of stories about performers interjecting politics into their shows lately
A reverse twist was Patti Lupone, who is quoted saying she wants to blow up Kennedy Center in protest against Trump.
What’s interesting about that is I saw her in concert recently, and she was wonderful. I was curious if she would get political but other than one quick quip, it was just on with the show.
Graham Nash is another strong opinionated person and I’ve seen him a couple times in recent years. He would make a few strong comments but he basically let the music, some very pointed on its own, speak for itself. I like that.
I’m a big fan of Steve Earle who I know holds strong opinions too.
In his last show toward the end he paused about how dived we seem in current affairs. I thought here it comes.
Instead he said he is making a special point as he travels around the country to listen. Listen to all kinds of views, while holding strongly on to his own opinions I’m sure.
It was thoughtful and warm and worked as a unifier.
And we can use more of that.
