Our family grew up with Cracker Barrel.

We would use them on roadtrips a lot. Love the breakfast. The front room filled with stuff was always a pleasant diversion while we waited to eat or after the meal. I would grab a rocking chair out front like the man in the logo they just got rid of, while the family would look at the knicknacks.

It was so much better than a hit and run restaurant on the road.

In more recent years we found the service spotty at times.

It even provided a one of experience for us.

We were headed to Florida and bopped in for breakfast. We placed our order but the food never came. Finally a manager came over and apologized saying our server had just quit on the spot.

I swear we did nothing to trigger it.

Anyway I was somewhat sad to see a plan for a new and improved Cracker Barrel that got rid of the merchandise room and wipe the old man off the logo.

But since our visits are so infrequent, we won’t be storming the local outlet with, what else, pitchforks.

I guess the people most upset should at least be glad they didn’t take the cracker out of the name.

Considering the backlash, I don’t think they will.
