Top ten movies ranked…..with a twist

I have seen all ten movies up for best movie in the Oscars.
Here’s my list, with a twist. I asked two questions. Will I watch it again? Will it be seriously around in five years?
This moves me into the popular and fun over art but so be it.
Here we go:
1. Sinners. Dramatic, good acting, music. I have already watched it again and it won’t disappear in five years. It isn’t a great movie or a perfect movie but it is enjoyable and good.
2. F1. A traditional popcorn movie. Big, flashy. But I was also impressed with how it integrated racing scenes into the story so well, and I am not interested in racing at all. And Brad Pitt is up to the task of carrying this sucker. I’ve already watched it again and it will certainly around in five years.
3. Marty Supreme. Lively story with a great cast. I will watch it again and so will others in five years.
4. Frankenstein. I have had it with Frankenstein movies. So I was surprised at how much I was engrossed by this long take. Well done. I will watch it again and it will have some life down the line but not a lot.
5. Hamnet. Lovely, sweet, sad, such a good movie. I won’t watch it again but that’s because I don’t like to rewatch sad movies. I think it will have staying power.
6. Train Dreams. Good story with acting and character. Very slow and not quite enough drama. I probably won’t watch it again and it will fade in time I think.
7. Sentimental Value. A well done family drama, dreary. I would never watch it again and I don’t think it passes the five year rest.
8. One Battle After Another. Some good scenes. I could never watch it again and see Sean Penn in that role. One critic called him a cartoon character. No more watching for me, although I think it will have some staying power.
9. Secret Agent. An overlong telling of a decent story. I would never watch it again and I think it will disappear.
10. Bugonia. I found it painful to watch once. I think no one will be made to suffer five years from now.
