After Jersey Boys which was dreadful, I was afraid Clint had lost his touch.

Not so.

American Sniper is really good.

Unlike Unbroken, where the movie never lets us inside the hero, Sniper lets us

understand the inside of the hero.

I also thought the movie played fair. It honored the soldiers but not automatically war.

Critics complaining about lack of development of characters other than the hero, or not enough about the Iraq point of view, are missing the point.

This was the sniper’s story and it is told well.
