Endurance award

I’ll save a review of The Revenant for another time.
One of the things that struck me as a watched, and enjoyed, the movie today, is how
a best acting award for Leonardo DiCaprio would be misplaced.
It was a fine acting job but it was more than anything else, an endurance test. He is eaten, beaten, tortured and struggles for life in the most primitive of conditions.
His most common expression was, shock of shocks, pain. He doesn’t say a hundred words in almost three hours.
Hollywood and the media often awards actors who are tortured for almost three hours with acting awards.
I don’t see that as the best way to measure an acting performance.
But it almost always works.
