Great day on the river

We went on the lock and dam cruise on the river this past Saturday at the St. Louis riverfront.
Weather was glorious and the cruise was most enjoyable.
You are on the river for over four hours. You get to go through a lock, cruise past the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers, and get postcard views of the St. Louis Riverfront.
The lunch buffet was perfectly fine, and the cost of $50 for that much time of the river and the lunch is most fair. Also reasonable are drink prices on board.
One more kudo. The captain was not only knew his stuff but he anticipated any question you might have during his commentary excellent.
Downsides? They still allow smoking on the open areas of the boat and it is disgusting and terrible. Way overdue to make it a non smoking cruise.
And our boat, the Becky Thatcher, is old and not easy for those getting up in the years to navigate if you want to move around the ship.
One other small point. We bought tickets online and the printout said “ticket” and it had bars for reading. But when we got ready to board the ship, they told us we had to go back to the entrance to get a hard ticket. They can do better than that.
But overall, a strong endorsement for a lovely day. October didn’t hurt but I can see a fall or spring cruise being the best.
