After all too much mediocre horseshit that gets dispensed on Netflix and other cable movies these past months while we reamain trapped, it is a pleasure to see three really good movies, pandemic or no pandemic, in a last week.
Never Let Go starring Kevin Costner and Diane Lane is exciting and touch. The scene around the kitchen table
will always be one of the more tense and chilling scenes in moviemaking.
The Dig has Fiennes and Mulligan at the top of their craft, and is engrossing to the end. I would rate it third of these three but that still leaves it as a real pleasure to watch.
Last night we watched Palmer. What could have been a by the numbers troubled man and little boy bond against tough circumstances rises way, way above that.
Justin Timberlake is the guy, Juno Temple is the messed up mom, and Ryder Allen is the little boy who faces some idiocy from others other sexual identity.
It is a movie with a sweet ending that is earned, not forced.
