I have read all of C.J. Box’s Joe Pickett books. I love them.

I pray Box had nothing to do with the abomination I saw in the first two episodes of the Joe Pickett series I just watched.

Wyoming is filled with toothless, mean, stupid nasty people almost exclusively in this television reality. It feels like it was written by Hollywood people who know nothing about Wyoming. Which I imagine it is.

Joe Pickett wears this goofy hat that Joe Pickett would never wear.

Maybe it gets better. It can’t get worse.

And the flashbacks to a brutal youth that was never in the books. Eye rolling.

Joe Pickett in Box’s world is a decent do-right, a good man surrounded by smarter, stronger friends and family.

They actually come close to that feel of Joe in those first two episodes, but everything around him seems so wrong so often.
