Growing up in Missouri I loved Steak and Shake. Still do. I used to even order their microwave chile until they made it to hard to find to send to the house.

When I moved out west I kept waiting for a nearby franchise. When one finally came,

there was some dispute with the franchisee and it closed.

Meanwhile Freddy’s came to the region. they replicate Steak and Shake in almost every way. And the quality is about the same.

I’m happy to be able to get my single steakburger with mustard, pickles and onions and fries.

But I will alway wonder if Steak and Shake had ever gotten their franchise shit together what they could have accomplished.
