7 and 7 is: Did it really happen?

My clipping tells me it was October 5, 2004, at the Union Colony Civic Center, Greeley.

The concert featured The Zombies. They are up and running even today so no great surprise in an enjoyable performance.

But the opening act was “Love with Arthur Lee“.

The review I kept of his performance talks about audience interaction and a good show. I remember all that vaguely but I have two distinct memories. One is his performance of “7 and 7 is”, a blast of life that I never expected to get to hear from the man himself.

The other memory was an aside he made in a quiet voice about being in Colorado before, in Aspen during his hectic and crazy days. After a pause he said softly “I remember they had really good nurses.”

You got to laugh right?

He’s gone now but if you had told me I would see Arthur Lee live in Greeley I would have said you are dreaming.

It was a good dream.
