Hastings and Marlowe obsessed with officials

It didn’t take long in the season opener for Armstrong and Marlowe to get into their announcing filtered through officiating mode during the first Denver Nuggets broadcast last night. The first “no call” from Marlowe was in the first quarter and once Hastings gets on a ref bitching roll, it is hard to stop him.

What’s a shame is they aren’t bad homers in pointing out Nugget shortcomings.

But they always fall on the crutch of calling the game through complaining about refs calls, and those complaints are always on calls against the Nuggets. Give us comments about the play, not the call. And when they show the replay, talk about the play, not the foul that wasn’t called.

I usually have to turn the sound off by the first month of the season. By then they are in full ref announcing mode and I just can’t take it.

I watch other home announcers who save their ref bitching for a half-dozen times a game, max.

I wish the boys would learn from that.
