Hacksaw Ridge is good

I went to see Hacksaw Ridge on opening day.

Critics hate Mel Gibson, the director, so for this movie to have such a strong approval rating, it must really be good.

It is.

Helluva story told well.

It really benefits by a climax that has the young man retrieving soldiers from

the Hacksaw Ridge battlefield all night long by himself, and then hauling them

down a steep cliff below the battlefield. Remarkable and true.

I would make the movie three and a half stars out of four because I found the

unrelenting violence difficult to watch. I know it is reality, but it was too much for me at times from a strictly viewing standpoint.

Wonderful ending and a really fine movie.
