Fabu forever

My Kansas City friends have heard by now that Charles Ferruzza has died.
I got to work with Charles in those Kansas City years at The Sun.
He was a lot of fun, never boring. He was the only person I knew that when he heard something from me he liked would say “fabu”.
Charles is such a big personality, I don’t think he gets enough credit for just how good a writer and editor he was. He reviews and features were always something to look forward to, in substance and pleasure.
He was also a helluva editor. When we would reverse roles and he would edit by entertainment stories that I wrote on movie junkets he would send me to, he was very good. Whether he made big, ruthless changes (that’s a compliment), to small fixes, he always made the stories better.
Charles was, is and will always be……
Fabu.
