My lockdown reading has taken me all over the place, but it has turned up an unknown gem.

I like crime stories and I read a good review of a book called Bull Mountain by Brian Panowich.

It is good. Very good. It is also brutal in places and not for the faint of heart.

This guy writes scenes and dialogue and characters that are riveting. You would not want to run into most these people in broad daylight. I am warning you.

After Bull Mountain I got the followup, Like Lions, and I’m swallowing it right now and it is just as good if not better than Bull Mountain.

His new book, Hard Cash Valley, just came out and it covers some new people so I’m anxious to give it a go.

I find things to nitpick in most books, even those I like, so when I find someone new with enthusiasm that goes beyond mixed reviews, I get pumped.

This one does it.
