Daryl’s House does it right

It isn’t easy to make a really good show hosted by famous musicians.
Sammy Hagar, who I love, has a lousy one. Kind of forced and awkward and kind of ass kissy.
There was another one with the lead singer of ACDC that had some good interviews and was kind of charming but no music.
The hands down winner is Daryl’s House. It takes place in Daryl Hall’s upstate New York spread, with studio included.
The focus is on music but it is on collaborative music. He has guests who range from obscure to famous but the goal is to really make some good music together with Hall’s gathered band of musicians.
Interspersed with the music is usually a cooking demonstration, fun, maybe a wine tasting, and eventually a sit around meal with the musical guest or guests and Daryl and his band. Very brief but a nice cutaway from just music.
He has hit open the perfect formula but it works because Hall comes across natural and any mutual admiration is genuine.
This is the way to do it.
