Even as I would tear up when Kevin Costner plays catch with his dad in Field of Dreams, something always bothers me.

He says “dad, have a catch?”

We never, ever said “have a catch”. It was “let’s play catch.”

I finally read where Costner was thrown off by it too, but the writer grew up in the east and it was “have a catch”. So he insisted Costner say the line that way.

It’s the scene that matters but………..let’s play catch.
