Michael Jackson heaven and hell

What a mixed bag the Michael Jackson movie is, I went today.

The music is glorious, I tapped along like crazy to those great songs and his great singing and performing.

His nephew plays Michael and he is spectacular.

But then there is the rest of the movie.

Ugh.

Michael’s dad is portrayed as one of the most unpleasant people I have ever seen in a movie.

From the first scenes and the belt coming out to whip Michael to the continued references to beating the children, it is as ugly as it gets from an evil man determined to find wealth and fame through his son. And it runs from beginning to end, as a small child to a grown man.

Michael’s mom, like Michael, is portrayed as a saint. She hugs him, they eat popcorn when Joe isn’t lurking. All love and kisses. But how could she let him beat those kids and abuse them both physically and verbally year after year after year.

You probably know by now, all of Michael’s problems with young boys is nowhere in this movie. Just his chimps and snakes and visits to children’s hospitals.

How cynical is it for all but two of the Jackson kids to sign off on this distorted movie as executive producers and throw their dad to the wolves as the lone evil. Money. Naw?

I couldn’t bear to ever watch this movie again.

But anytime a music scene from this movie is shown, I’m in.
