I’m reading Michael Douglas’s new autobiography. It’s good, he has plenty of adventures. I was curious to see what he had to say about a movie with his first starring role called Adam at 6 a.m.

I was a cub reporter for the Festus Missouri paper and we got word that Douglas was coming to Festus to be interviewed on the radio and by the newspaper. Senior Reporter Helen Uding made things clear quickly. “He’s mine.”

The movie was filmed in Missouri and Douglas says he was sent on a lavish spare no expense press tour to promote it nationwide.

Somehow when he hit St. Louis, Festus was dealt in for the son of Kirk to hit the nearby small town.

So Helen went to the radio station for the interview. She said he was very nice and she put on the wall afterward this lovely photo of her and Michael looking like a handsome young devil, autographed.

I tried not to look at it any more that necessary.

Not that I was a sore loser or carry grudges for over 50 years.
